Mark the manifold for grinding Mark the manifold where it needs to be ground.

Check for fitGrind the manifold and check for clearence

Grind the turbo flange   Grind the turbo and check for clearence

Turbo compressor Stock posistion The compressor housing stock points straight up. Loosen the bolts that hold it on the back side.

90 degrees is too far   The housing can now be rotated to where ever you want. Gary D. found that to match the T2 closely you rotate the housing 48 degrees. I chose more like 60 degrees since I was running custom hoses and wanted it to point as far forward as possible.WARNING: do not rotate it as far as the picture, this is more like 90 degrees and it hit the transmission

Drill holes to mount wastegate canDrill the new holes to mount the wastegate bracket. notice that the holes for 60 degrees are just off the stock holes. For 48 degrees the hole will be right between the two stock holes.

Check the bracket for manifold clearence The mounted bracket clears the intake by only a little bit. Notice the notch I cut in the bracket about half way up. This was so I could bend the bracket a bit away from the manifold.

Make new turbo inlet Here I cut off the 90 degree section from the inlet so was like a T2 inlet. I then used JB weld to put it back together. If you think this is too ugly then you could have it aluminum welded.

Turbo on at 60 degreesHere's the head and turbo back on the block. Notice right under the turbo is about 3/8" clearence from the transmission. This was enough to slip intercooler hose and clamp over.

Completed turbo inlet on This is with the inlet on and intlet hose on.
